This is what you wanted...
So, Amsterdam...
It's busy. Rome level busy. And it is made worse by the fact that bikes are EVERYWHERE. When crossing the streets you have to look about five times before crossing. And then a bike will appear from nowhere. I'd go as far as to say they have a bike problem to be honest. Pedestrians seem to be a distant second in regards to pavements, most have parked up bikes on them, whiles others throw steps from buildings into the mix, forcing you into the bike lanes. Between the bikes, trams, cars the people are all squeezed together. But don't you dare get in the way of a cyclist as a few people did as it is followed by, I assume, Dutch cussing.
After you have walked down one or two canals the rest look the same. Broken up by various building sites. One meant there was no pavement but lots of piles of bricks and sand everywhere. Pedestrians enjoyed walking through that.
One of the brown cafes (aka pub) we went in was great. Loads of beers, far too many. Not cheap though.
The tram system is good. Pay for ticket and then swipe off and on, not too badly priced and they are quite quick although they cross paths a lot in the centre which is confusing for pedestrians!
Hotel is so so. Room is nice, bar is nice but very expensive. Pool and gym included but steam room etc cost more!
Road trip ahead today. Woohoo.
